It was worth getting married...

Very basic stuff, but:
1. Proper big handled ice cream scoop. (Ben & Jerry's sets solid in my freezer!)

2. Basting Cover (after seeing how they're used melt toppings onto burgers or steaks on Man vs. Food)

3. Pasta Cutter (after my wife watched that new Italian Cooking show, she's gotten into making home made paste. very fresh!)

Pizza cutter... made by Oxo Good Grips, plastic wheel that doesn't damage your cooking tray, but cuts really well.

New griddle pan... cast aluminium non-stick but still quite heavy and heats up well. The handle quickly detaches for putting in the oven. So far it's as good as a cast iron one. Will be testing it on a seriously big ribeye this weekend

I like that. Was about to get the Le Creuset version with two handles but this might be better value. Did you get it from Amazon? They appear to be out of stock of the 27cm at the moment.

Le Creuset cast iron griddle pan (birthday gift from my mother).

Excellent pan, just a complete PITA to clean.

Just wipe it with paper towel when cool & remove any large lumps.
These pans can make the most wonderful tasting things if treated properly. For instance, I sometimes use mine for griddling sliced new potatoes just brushed with a small amount of olive oil, the into the smoking hot pan & the flavour the old thing imparts from all the old steaks etc is incredible.

Did get lots of other cool things too and of course, I love my wife, but can't wait to use these new items!

What else have you guys got recently?
It would have been far cheaper to buy them, and you won't lose half in a couple of years! Did get lots of other cool things too and of course, I love my wife, but can't wait to use these new items!

Yep, got it from Amazon. The reviews are mostly excellent. Some of them do say not to heat it up too much, but I've had it smoking hot and it's been fine, no sign of any problems. Have to see how it copes over time though as I've only had it a month... but so far so good.Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
