What white wine to go with scollops and Monkfish ?

What white wine would go with a nice fish orientated supper ? A bottle that could be bought from an off licence or supermarket ??

A nice Chablis will be fine, you can get that almost anywhere, or as an alternative try a Cortese di Gavi, fom Italy, a great substitute, majestic do a lovely one.

Tesco do an excellent Premier Cru Chablis - normally £14.99, sometimes on offer. If they don't have it in stock they have a decent 'Finest' one for a tenner.

Not sure if it is the perfect fishy wine but Chapel Down Flint Dry from Waitrose is a terrific white wine for £10.

An Aussie Semillom, preferably from the Hunter Valley. You can get a bottle in Tesco, think its around a tenner or so.

Don't worry Chablis is Chardonnay. Just without the price, pretension & gnats pi$$ French terroir, doncha know.
A £10 supermarket New World Chardonnay will knock a £20 Chablis into a cocked-hat.

This, but I'd chuck a Marlborough Sauv Blanc from NZ in to the mix!

Sauvignon blanc in any of its forms is too flowery.

A nice cold steely Meursault is just the ticket.

Laurant Perrier do a *very* dry champagne which is quite hard to find. It's a slightly acquired taste, but would go well with that food.

So would a very cold dry beer, fwiw.
