cleaning up a stainless exhaust

I have just acquired a used exhaust system, 10 mins with some autoglym metal polish has polished up the silencer and tip a lot. It wont be on the car for about a week and it occurred to me that it is probably a good opportunity to get it as clean and shiny as poss, before it goes on the car.

Is there anything better/easier that auto glym metal polish for this task?

using some 0000 (very fine) grade wire wool is often used in conjunction with the metal polish

Try black fire aluminium paste comes in heavy cut or fine really good
