Can I transfer a private plate off a car at the same time as selling it?

Don't want to transfer it now and have to wait a while for the new V5 to come back.

Do you have to fill in an extra form?

Thing is will your buyer be ok buying it with no V5 ? You can tran it off now but will have no docs to sell it with for a while.

If you live near enough to a dvla office to go there with your buyer, you can life the number plate off at the same time as transferring the owner. You could also put the plate straight onto your new car if you have it then.

Balls, I thought that you could do the both at the same time...

Does the buyer have to go to DVLA also or could I do it all? Looking to sell in a couple of days not weeks!

Works both ways, with the jag the buyer agreed the sale, noted the mileage and waited 2 weeks for the V5 before doing the sale - I was praying for the V5 every day. With the Aston I trusted the buyer to transfer off the plate as the guy seemed straight up and I needed it gone and it wasn't my best plate.
