Dweezil Zappa

Is playing a series of concerts soon.Being a huge devotee of Franco and never having seen Dweezil I'm interested in attending one. I understand some of the original Mothers may be in Dweezil's band.

Are the Dweezil concerts any good, or is he cashing in on the old man's greatness?

Not cashing in by any means, more keeping the legacy alive. And he won a Grammy for Peaches a year or so back. If any doubt as to his ability, have a hunt around for his Inca Roads solo.

He routinely has ex-Mothers and other members of Zappa's rocking teenage combo's (for conceptual continuity fans) either as members of his band, or as special guests. Vai, NMB and Bozzio among others have guested, although there's no-one 'famous' in the current touring band.

Definitely go; you'll not see musicianship of this quality anywhere else.

As a note, all 60+ official Zappa releases are being re-issued between now and Xmas.

Ade - Yeah I know about the reissues and am keeping my eyes open..I'm hoping the reissue of Hot Rats is closer to the '69 original than the '87 one everyone's got.Very nearly my favourite album of all time.

I did - Feb 1978, Hammersmith Odeon. Bunked off Biology with a bandmate of mine, who got last minute tickets. Train up from Bridgend to London, and bobs you uncle (meat). 15 at the time.

A little 'refreshed' at the time. I wish I'd paid a bit more attention. Zappa & The Tubes; it must have been epic!

Saw The Tubes in Southampton a few years back, and they were incredible.

Wished I'd been there..... I saw Dylan at Blackbushe in '78 (I was 17), and remember the year well.
