What are they like reliability wise and what are the common faults and issues. I'm familiar with the mk4 golf platform cars, Leon's etc but don't know anything really about the newer 2.0 T's. Quite fancy a Vrs (when i can afford one in about 2 years rofl) prefer the looks and rarity to the Golf which i find a bit boring really.

Yes there are common problems (although I think they're all also common to the Golf, A3, Leon, etc). Two spring to mind...

The most common one is the ESP control unit thing, that can fail and is very expensive to replace with an OEM part, although people have produced kits that fix the failed unit rather than replacing the whole thing.

The air conditioning pump is another known weak point, and is very expensive to replace with an OEM part, although you can buy a pattern one for a couple of hundred quid.

Join briskoda; they seem to know just about everything there is to know about the car.

Avoid the 18 inch wheels. They weigh a tonne and consequently ruin the handling.
