O.K. guys and girls

You helped me out a few months ago when I had booked a weekend away in Swindon with places to eat .
You came up trumps with a local pub type of place to eat (sally pusseys)

I'm after the same sort of place around Stratford upon Avon
I have booked a weekend away to Ettington Chase just outside Stratford in November

We have been there twice before and enjoyed it ,we ate in Stratford centre last time , but

I'm after somewhere within 5 to 10 miles for good food and nice atmosphere

Any recommendations for the "country pub with good food " type of place ?

I'm sure the p.h gang will come up trumps again

Thank you in anticipation

Back in 2003 I went with my parents, there was a chinese all you can eat restaurant that was literally amazing! I can't remember the name but it was on the waterfront, seriously if you know the place I'm on about you need to get in there!

Just down the road from us. There's a few places worth a visit.

The Chequers Inn in Ettington.
The Bell at Alderminster.
The Howard Arms at Illmington.
The Ferry in Alveston.

Bit further is The Crabmill in Preston Bagot. It has a sister pub - The Baraset Barn in Alveston, but The Crabmill is better imo.

We used to go to The Peacock in Oxhill, but it became over-priced with crap service, so best avoided.

If you're happy to go back to the centre, Grants and No.9 Church Street are both very good...modern European cuisine in a semi-smart environment, but still relaxed enough not to worry if you're wearing jeans.

Outside, can't add anything to the above. Stag @ Redhill, maybe...but they can be variable quality.
