Coming across your old cars

This may be a bit of a "cool story bro" posts but anyway...
Just come back from a family wedding in Herefordshire. Driving into the carpark and notice one of the guests had my old Seat Arosa that I traded in 6 months ago! The garage the car went to is about a mile away from me in Birmingham and the lad who bought it lives around Ledbury way, he spotted it on ebay and went up and bought it.
Very funny seeing the old thing again, made me feel a bit better as I got £600 for it on trade in and the lad bought it for about £550. The car was originally put up for about £1k so I felt that perhaps I should've got more for it. Guess it wasn;t as popular as the garage thought!
Incidentally about a month ago, my dad saw his old 307 he got rid of 6 years ago driving past him on the M5.

Seen a few of mine againce once sold. Some probably don't count though as I sold them within the owners club and saw them again and meets/events.
The old one I've come across on the road by accident was my old MK2 Golf Gti. Only saw it the once after I had sold it. Sold it to a guy living about 15 miles away with the coolant pissing out of the oil filler cap, but otherwise an all round sound car. He bought it knowing full well the head gasket had failed so it was nice to see it being driven around again rather than being broken for spares!

Few year ago, I sold my A6 to a guy up in Northumberland, about 30 miles away from me. Was out one night with my mate talking about previous cars, my mate mentioned about how he couldn't recall what the A6 was like, just then, the very car I sold went over the roundabout directly in front of us, didn't realise at first, just said, "it was identical to that one, hang on, it IS that one"
I've also seen my A4 Avant driving about, bit saddened to see it as its one of the few cars I actually regret getting rid of, it was in showroom condition, the few times I've seen it, it's been filthy with so much brake dust on the wheels, they were virtually brown

There was a TVR night on Poole Quay recently & although I had to go part of me didn't want to as I thought the chances of seeing my old chimaera were high, & sure enough she was there. Broke my heart to see the old girl too. She wasn't exactly filthy but wasn't in the condition I used to keep her, the was even dried mud on the tyres, I mean FFS, how could he!

I used to see my Dad's old Land Rover Discovery around town, friends of my Mum's friend bought it, crashed it twice and sold it on, haven't seen it for a long time now.
Dad followed his previous Audi A6 through Southampton, we px'd it for a new one with just a workshop key for it following a burglary. Thought it looked familiar and then recognised the registration.
I see the L-reg Mazda 323 I learned to drive in and used for a year sometimes in the town I grew up in (8mi away), thinkits changed hands again since I sold it in 2008, always makes me sad to see it dirty, it was immaculate inside and out with 54k on the clock when it left me, I actually walk up to it and pat it fondly on a door mirror. We bought it as a runabout from my Grandma, had been in the family since it was 2 or 3 years old.
I live in Surrey, bought a Renault Mégane II, it had always been local, I took it to Uni in East Kent for 18 months and px'd it back home. It was un-taxed for about 6months, then suddenly it was again, a few weeks later I passed it sat up just off the high street near my Uni house in Kent. I sold it because it was an unbelievable money pit so I was a bit here nor there, though it was nice to see it again. My mates housemate thinks his friends friend bought it and came up to visit.

Funnily enough I saw one of mine at the PH Sunday Service at Silverstone last weekend, I was on the roof of the Porsche centre when I saw it pull up, couldnt catch the driver to have a chat. I didnt seel it to a PHer either.

Many years ago around a bend to see a car coming other way on the wrong side - it was going past my mum's old cavalier parked awkwardly.
I traded one in, when I had thee 1K service done it was also in for something - sorting out the brakes I am told, I knew I shouldn't have gone through that flood (the brakes squealed a lot after that)

My old 306 Rallye pops up for sale accordingly. I'm always tempted to buy it, don't, then regret it.
Saw my Ma's old Merc A140 at a train station once. Crap car so didn't say anything.
Once found my Dad's old Granada on a pitch. It was showing 60k, same as when he handed it back two years previous. We assumed it had been clocked, in fact, it had just been sitting there at the same agent. Shame.

In early 2009 I sold my old my Mondeo to a chap through my work's internal messageboard.
Next time I saw it, was overtaking me into Dundee. Then my department moved buildings and I seem to work in the same area as the owner as I see it quite often now.
Still wearing the same tyres on the rear. Minus a wheeltrim. Big scrape along the rear near side door.
Pretty sad to see it not as well cared for, was an excellent car and I took it from 39k to 71k in about 18/19 months.

Was climbing about in an old scrap yard a number of years ago, climbed 3 cars up to find my old Sunbeam perched at the top minus its engine it was an odd feeling... very sad end to a great car.. it didnt look bad either so no idea why it was scrapped unless someone used the engine for another car..

also had one of my old cars turn up in a classic car mag at a dealers as a restoration feature car, with a massive full page story about how the car was purchased and how cunning and quick thinking etc sealed the deal ( a complete pile of bullst).Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
