Help me find a Chimaera, budget £8,000
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Well after a rather nice little windfall I've decided that Chimaera is THE car for me, I was considering a Cerb for a while, but I think i would miss the feel of the wind (and rain) in my hair!
So I am looking to spend arount £8,000 possibly streching to £9,000 for a pristine example, which puts me firmly within 4.0L territory with the odd HC and 4.5 dotted around.
I'm based in the east coast of Scotland, and I am willing to travel nationwide for the right car. So was hoping you guys could help me sort the wheat from the chaff?
(only requirement from the Mrs, it's not silver
)
Cheers,
P

I would say this, wouldn't I?......but I find my standard 4.0 has more than enough power to be great fun, both on the road and the track day.
Track days aren't a race, even with an airfield runway to play on, as you will always get beaten by the M5 jockeys doing 185. Personally I try to protect my 13 year old engine by not going too fast - 125 to 140 is quite enough. Round the twisty stuff the car handles great in standard set up, as confirmed by a pro test driver, and has more talent than the spanner behind the wheel.
Spend your money on a good one rather than a more powerful one. Regularly driven rather than stored, good underneath, full TVR service history etc etc

I have a 1998 'S' reg Chimaera 500 that I unfortunately have to let go. I am emigrating to France on retirement shortly and it is just to problematical to import it and keep it over there. Its the second 500 I have had over the years, regretted selling the first one!!
Its done around 42k miles. It is Imperial blue, cream leather interior, most Leven accessories inside. It has a full service history with the likes of Fernhurst and latterly David Batty. Not long had a service. New Toyo tyres all round which have done less that 1500 miles.
I have a comprehensive history file from new with every receipt and invoice, including original order form and purchase invoice, too much to list here. Usual little stone chips to the front and usual cracks to the wooden dash. None of it too painful to rectify.
It drives like a dream. I am not looking for a dealer figure, just a reasonable price. If you are interested, let me know and I can list the history for you. clivegrace@btinternet.com

You are welcome to take a squint round my Marjory in Aberdeen (4.0HC, 1995 M reg, 47kmiles, FSH, blue.....PM me for all the juicy details). I bought her off a PH member a couple of years ago and she has not put a foot wrong in all that time.....except for a flat battery (replaced 2 weeks ago) and what i thought was miss-fire which ended up being an HT lead that had come loose from the plug extendder (D'Oh).
Cheers
