get a decat pipe on there and an aftermarket exhaust

then get one of these

www.flamerkits.co.uk (my mate sells them)

my 420 bhp fiesta has one on it - it spits flames 6 feet long !!!

for noise get an induction kit (Hurricane etc) and a cat replacement pipe

try ww.eliseparts.com for the above

If you want flames and pops n bangs etc then you really need a heavily modified engine, with high lift cams, a programmable ECU etc...then leave the fuel on when on overrun and set it up a bit rich...then when you take your foot off the throttle it will pop n crackle like a good un

mmm dont think so - the pops n bangs etc are unburnt excess fuel that makes it through to the exahust and then gets ignited there - not good if you have a cat on the car ! ...tends to make them wear out pretty quick ...I think thats why TVRs seem to go through cats pretty quick

Yep rich as Bogie says. Not good for fuel efficiency either!

Don't put a flamer kit on though :

a) they looks a bit shit imho, and nothing like overrun flames.
b) its a plastic car, you'll probably melt it.

As they say above, a modified engine with sports exhaust and cat replacement pipe is what you need. You'll have to put the cat on every MOT though which could be annoying.

youre not kidding about the fuel efficiency - I disabled the fuel cut off on my car for added sound effects...got 40 miles less out of a tankful !

Lean because it doesn't ignite, and therefore the unburnt fuel doesn't get out. Rich would just cause extra black smoke. Cerbera's go through cats pretty quick if they have some sort of running fault and all the vibration. best to remove them.

so does that mean that all TVRs run lean then?

and how come if I cut the fuel on overrun it stops popping and banging and becomes all civilised ?

<confused> !

Only the Cerbie 4.5 really pops and bangs a lot. With a proper fuel cutoff it might be nice and quiet - but it's got a dodgy injector-over-butterfly throttle body, so maybe it carries on feeding fuel to stop the port drying out so much. Personally I think they programmed it that way on purpose - I never tired of it in over 3 years!

Mmmmm our Tuscan with CCC cans pops and bangs a lot...no just changing the rear silencers cant alter the fuelling...so my theory is its doing it anyway - its just that you cant hear it so much !

you will need unburnt fuel to get flames

it usually happens as you back off and some unburnt fuel gets into the hot exhaust system

The flamer kit works by igniting this fuel to ensure a flame every time

a spark plug is fitted to the exhaust system and a special box of electronics and a coil produce a very strong spark

www.flamerkits.co.uk

voila - flames like a rally car
