I was wondering what car people would choose if they had to pick a car older than 1983. The reason is that it costs a lot to import a car to Norway until it's 30 years old, when it becomes a veteran car and much cheaper to import. Could give some ideas for me. I'm very open to all sorts, so feel free to add oddities!

I think they have taxis in Norway. wink

I'd be going for something absurdly large and American.

They also have fuel costing above 2.10/ltr according to my colleague who was in Stavanger recently. Therefore I'd suggest a nod towards some sort of fuel economy.

Otherwise I'd have suggested a Ford Galaxie 500 427 biggrin

I have always liked the looks of the GT6, so would be on the list. Any recommendations on problems/ great things about it? Same with a Volvo 1800.

Taxis are crazy expensive though (due to the high cost of new cars) - for a 20 mile motorway trip it's around £75!

Old American cars are very popular here - much more than European cars. Not sure what the reason is, but there is a huge following.

They don't break, are easy to fix and if you run them on LPG are cheap to run- at least here in the Netherlands. I have no idea how it works in Norway but if you can afford the fuel then an old yank tank is the way to go.

I like these.

With added 4WD useability (not this one smile)
