log book

bought a car off a guy who owns a garage. been trying to get the logbook off him for ages. its come to the point where im fed up of asking him, its been going on that long. how do i get a log book for the car ? help pistonheaders. many thanks.

Have you actually seen the Logbook?

Did you HPI the car?

You can apply for a new logbook from the DVLA, just be prepared for the fact that they'll have to send a letter to the previous owner to confirm it's been sold and who to.

This may be the stage where you realise you have no car.

the car isnt stolen. the original owner died and the car in question was sold to the guy who i bought it off. no logbooks have changed hands and now we are in this mess.

Go to your local dvla office and they will sort it out, otherwise may take 4 weeks

There was a thread in the SP&L section a while back, where a guy found his newly bought car car had been used against a log book loan by a previous owner. Like you, he had no Logbook. Even though he had just spent upwards of £10,000 on an Elise, he had no rightful possession of it and the loan company were going to come and collect it off him.
