Project 924..

Just thought I'd post some photos of my latest project, an '82 924 LUX. Purchased on ebay last night at 12:30am for the bargain sum of £345!

The car was listed for 'spares or repairs', requiring exhaust manifold bolts and a battery. It currently has no tax or mot and has been off the road since around 2003. I really expected the car to be a total project, but it looks like I got lucky again

The car as it was when I arrived to collect it today..

Jobs to do;
Fit new battery
Exhaust manifold gasket & studs/nuts
Fix fuel leak
MOT

Job done

93k from new, service history up to 75k, all old mot's and service books/manual present.

The body is excellent with just a little bit of surface rust on the sill behind the front offside wheel and a bit of a scab around the boot catch. Interior is also excellent, will post some more photos when I get chance

I've only had a quick look but it looks like the metal pipes coming from the tank have corroded.

If the fuel lines need replacing have a look at a braided hose, a much cheaper option that the Porsche original.

My dad has a BMW motorbike of similar age to that in the same colours, anyone know the history of the decals on them? Seems odd that they both have the same on.

There was an actual 924 Martini special edition that had those decals, but that looks to be the only thing that this car has if the internet is anything to go by.

crikey those monifold bolts look like they could be fun to get to!

I've always thought these would be a cool car to smoke about in. ideal starter to classic motoring.

I've just found the exhaust manifold gaskets in an envelope dated 2003 inside the car. One of the manifold studs is missing, I just hope it hasn't broken off because it's going to be a pain to get out if it has! Fun times ahead, maybe!

There should be A plaque that says if it is A proper martini edition but I dont reckon it is mainly cause they where only made in 77 :P.The rust was more than likely caused by A battery leaking acid hence battery needing to be replaced!

It's definitely not a Martini edition, it's a 2.0 LUX

Ya sorry my post kind of made me sound like A muppet! please tell me what the difference with the LUX is,if you ask me its A myth also if your stuck for any info feel free to send me A pm.Good few owners on here but threads rarely pop up so hard to find info!
