Currently have an MR2 Turbo that i will break for parts, so on the look fo the next car

so the question is what do i get next, part of the decision has come down to the fact i dont really drive it that much, i have 2 kids so really a car with 4 seats (doesnt have to be 4 doors) is going to be used alot more - wont necessarily be a daily driver but the mr2 has only racked up about 300 miles since ive owned it.

The car needs to satisfy some things for me,

needs to be;

quite quick
handle quite well
around the £10k mark

some ideas i have had are fairly obvious ones, ill list them but the reason for the thread is to get other new ideas that i might look into

so far i have thought of

Audi RS4 - or tuned S4
BMW M3 / M5
Evo 6-9
Porsche 996 (non turbo) kids are still small so might squeeze in the back

Look into the cost of maintaining some of those cars if you're used to an MR2! The RS4 is a bona-fide bank buster if you end up with a lemon!

Skyline 350GT. Basically a 350Z with back seats. Rarity value, lovely soundtrack, gets to 60 in about 6 seconds.

Monaro, maybe?

I'd probably go for the 996, though, if the kids and any luggage you will need to carry will fit.

If you don't fancy the cost/risk of running an M3 then get an Alpina B3S.

3.4 litres, fantastic sound, 28mpg, superb ride/handling. Oh and 305bhp - officially, but Alpina are conservative with the figures and owners have dyno'd their cars at 320bhp.

cheers for the replies thus far

im well aware these cars will cost more to run than the mr2, thats not the point.

I wont be getting a scoobie - just dont like them

the monaro is too tempting to eventually rip the engine out and put it in an RX7,

if i were to get an R32 it would have to be supercharged or turbo'd and the turbo'd one would be too much money i would of thought (mk4 i suggesting) ive had a mk4 r32 and kept it 6 weeks - too slow out of the box
