Hi. The heater started going slow when driving. It now goes slow on both settings. Does anyone know what it is off or any solutions please? Cheers.

Take the fan motor out, clean the brushes and oil the bearings...five minute job (but four hours to get it out) smile

Unless I'm mistaken, don't you have to remove the dashboard to get to it??

If so, good luck!

I removed the fan switch yesterday from centre console, and that was a real pain.

The heater in an S3 is behind an extra fibreglass moulding, HTH

My heater always went slow on both settings - I thought that was normal!

While I had the console out recently I gave all the switches a dust and contact clean up. Surprised to find I then actually had a two speed fan with a fast speed. The contacts for the second speed were quite corroded. Fortunately the standard switches are quite chunky and easy to strip and clean.

Might not be your problem but worth trying before you have the dash out - eek

Defiantly have the heater in the photo and there are no signs of leaks and the motor is fine

Let me know if your interested currently located near Warwick

Before you dive in and rip the fan out, does the rev counter or speedo remain at a consistent reading when the fan or lights are turned on? If there is any sudden change then check out the yellow connector under the steering column cover.

Thanks Norman. I'll bear that in mind if I take it out and give you a shout if I need to replace the motor. I'll try the switch first. (Nothing else seems to be affected when I put the fan on). Cheers

I took the switch apart over the weekend and found that the prong that does the fast setting was broken / melted. I've swaped them over temporarily to get the fast setting working for now but need to source a new switch. Are they TR7 does anybody know?
Cheers

That looks a bit drastic just to get to the heater!

Believe they are TR7 but Rimmers don't list a fan switch for the TR7.

I believe the equivalent TR7 switch was the headlight switch - although someone more knowledgable may be along shortly to correct me
