Opinion poll has appeared on car club site concerning above, will be interesting to see results if majority of members vote on it.

Only a very small percentage of club members is required to fill the stadim (thats percentage - not small number of cars)
Im going & Im looking forward to it - if its crap when we get there I will be the first to moan - in the meantime it would be nice to stop the not so subtle digs & show some enthusiasm.

I suggested the car club run some sort of poll for P&P.
The reason I asked was that reading loads of posts on the issue, some positive and some not. To my mind its no good moaning when action can be requested.
I agree the Committee will have worked very hard to put this event on, more the reason to find out a basic reaction from club members. I feel sure the Committee will be guided by the results for the betterment of the club
If a significant % of club members simply are unable to afford the National Event then I feel confident that issue will be considered for the future.
I have attend National Events such as Mania and had a right stonking laugh and look forward to more events.

I would not take the job for love.. money yes..
It is a fact that we have never had a chairman that has been universally praised... normally with the job comes a huge salary .. this one get no salary.
It's a bit like being a football manager - the team looses and the first thing that happens is the manager gets sacked...

I wasnt aware this team had lost anything - as you well know there have been huge changes in the background that have taken an incredible amount of time & effort - all done without any personal gain.
Easy to criticise - not so easy to fill those shoes.

I thought about this reply, so excuse my rambling.
As another RO I think there has been a monumental lack of communication. At the 2003 AGM it was made very clear that there would be more COMMUNICATION between the committee, the RO's and the membership to create greater cohesion. Colin Last (Events Co-ordinator) called me to get my views on the Windsor Polo event even before he'd confirmed our attendance.
With regard to P+P, there wasn't much. The first I heard of it was just before the first booking form came out and was amazed that so much had been planned without any consultation of the ROs (let alone the membership).
I know when organising any event that organisation by committee can be hard going (as you can't please everyone), but it would have been useful to have had the opportunity to comment before any large committment was made. I haven't said one derogatory thing about P+P but I have listened to many view points. The recurring pattern in these comments is purely the cost of parking the cars in the stadium. As a South Wales local The Millennium Stadium is a fine location (been to a number of internationals there myself) and I think it will be a fantastic venue for P+P but when compaired the free parking at BBWF, free or nominal charge for most local events, members are questioning what they get for their hard earned. (I know we've been told what's on offer so I won't go into details).
Everyone has their own opinion and I respect that even if I don't agree with them. For some the cost is just too great and given the current financial climate I can fully understand that. For others, a static day out is not what they want. The city rumble sounds spot on and should be a blast. I was hoping that there would be a mass charge over the Severn Bridge as that would be an awesome sight to see.
Most "Mania" events have been based around driving activities at the given venue. This has often been a recipe for success. IMHO perhaps the lack of driving opportunities on the day is part of the issue. I will be staying with friends in Wales so the cost of the whole event is much lower for me. I'm extending this invite to some of the Surrey members too as I have been offered a house for the weekend.
I really hope the club benefit from P+P as I for one want to see the club succeed. But let people have their own opinions, those that want to go will and those that don't, won't. I don't think members are so easily swayed by the odd comment on PH. I'd like to give them more credit than that.
