Does anyone know this Supercharged Griff?
Discussion
Hi guys,
I don't normally stray into this area (Having a Wedge and a Cerb) but was wondering if anyone knows anything about this 'factory supercharged' Griff?
The spec looks a little ambitious to me!

Don't think the auctioneer knows a huge amount about TVRs by the description of the Griff (500 unveiled at the 1990 motorshow?/ 260 mm brakes all round?).
Also no engine bay pic of the 'factory installed' supercharger.
You might get a bargain, but no matter what the provenance a good poke around under the car is needed first.

Factory supercharged ?
Not heard of that before .......
Factory supercharged as in done by Power? Not heard of that before .......
FFG
No factory fitted superchargers that i know of (other than on the v8 Wedge), this has to be an aftermarket fitment with all the inherant insurance issues that go with aftermarket mods.
Even if it was fitted by TVR Power its still not a factory fitment as it would have been supplied by SC Power (no relation).
I would also question the 480 bhp figure to if its a stock 500 engine, you need a larger bore and a lot of very expensive components in the engine to get that power from the rotrex supercharger.

then why do they say 340hp? thats was for some 5.0 the standard hp...
if it has a SC and say that in the ad mentioned 340hp then maybe its one delivered
to the Italians and they down-forced the 5.0 to 2.0 and put an SC on like they did with some V8S...
picture's also speak...show us and make us a believer
if its all original and there is some history then it could be interesting.

The Griffith 500 is powered by a Rover 5-litre V8 supercharged engine, has a lightweight fibreglass body, and with a 0 - 60mph speed of 3.8 seconds is faster than a Ferrari, and at one tenth the cost of the Italian alternative! Of all the TVRs the Griffith is the fastest, with a top speed of 161mph, its smooth 'muscle car' lines and phenomenal exhaust note, has become a British classic.
thats pretty fast.Further to your enquiry regarding Lot 999, the TVR Griffith I can tell you the following.
After speaking with the owner I can confirm that the car is not supercharged and remains mechanically standard. He always thought it had been fitted with a Garret-type blower (as some were aftermarket) and had put this in his initial spec when we catalogued the car remotely. Apologies for any confusion and thanks for bringing this to our attention.
