Spa and 3D?

Does anybody have a link to a 3D model (or similar) for Spa circuit? I know that there is a pretty impressive change in elevation but cannot find a nice simple 3D model or similar to have a proper look....

You should try walking down it, after falling out of the truck and buggering up your knee. walking up was fine, but i almost had to slide down the hill on my arse as my knee wouldnt bend !!

I'm not being funny but is it really that steep?

It really does look awesome from in car (eg JB's pole lap) and holding the throttle fully open relying on areo to stick you to the road must take some serious balls?

Yes it is. It's strange how the TV doesn't capture it. I had some photos of it a while ago that showed how steep it is, I'll see if I can find them.

it is steep, as was said on the comentary as you come down from La Source it is like a wall of tarmac infront of you.

Wow - that is just silly! what a strain that must put through the chassis at full bore...

You can't see how steep it is on video captured from the car either.

Going down from La Source is also quite a steep drop.

I do wonder why with all the cameras f1 has that they can't position them to give you an idea of the rise and fall of the track.

Spa really is hilly in my academy car i would hit 5th on the run down the hill but need to drop a cog by the time I reached the top of O rouge.

Well that seems to sum it up quite well. Even if slightly over egged (poles at Vertical still make it amazing.....)

TV has the same effect at Le Mans. Didn’t appreciate the slope on the Pits straight until I actually went there

It is very hard to show the elevation change with film cameras that are following a race. There are ways to do it but they don't give you decent shots of the race you are filming and/or are impossible to pan. Don't forget that you are also watching the moving car, not looking at the detail of the surroundings which is what you need to focus on to appreciate the differences.

Many programmes following races from Spa will try to show you just how steep it all is but it is only in the pre race build ups and so on so other than with F1 you just don’t have the air time and budget to do it all justice.

It is chuffing steep though and even though I was prepared for it before I saw it for the first time many years ago it still makes you catch your breath.

they seem to manage ok ish in the Moto GP round at Sachensring that has a massive steep downhill section. The riders describe it as driving over a cliff as the bike drops away from them.

I did notice one shot on Sunday's BBC show that did show how steep it is, the camera was looking down from the top of Raidillon and it looked just awsome. It's also surprising how steep Kemmel is as well, you don't really notice driving it.

When I raced an Evora GT4 there last year it was bottoming out so hard up the hill that it was going through the bumpstops allowing the wheels to rub against the body, making the cockpit fill up with tyre smoke every lap.

THAT was disconcerting.

Did you have enough downforce or lack of speed in the Evora to be able to take it flat out? Must have been awesome.

I always though it would be cool to go there in the winter when it had snowed and to snowboard all the way from the top of Kemmel down into Eau Rouge.

I noticed at the weekend how steep that was, I was amazed.

To give a sense of perspective how steep is it compared to Paddock Hill at Brands
