Should out beloved Wedges start to appreciate (double) in value, and the temptation to sell become too much; which other car would you spend your money on?

What other car could give the sense of occasion, the noise, the grin factor that our Wedges do?

Is there anything else out there that offers the same 'bang for the buck' ratio?

I, personally can't think of anything else I'd want to own.

Well the SEAC is a keeper for me.

But I do have an E46 M3 which is a lot of fun for not much money .. quite a modern well made car, compact with a huge engine.

The Reliant Scimitar I think would come close. It's a fast three litre car, still value for money and it's always been in my list of favourite classics.
Like the Wedge I don't understand why they are still so cheap. Though, not for long gentlemen. Our day will come and when it does you,ll wish you still had that Wedge. In the meantime, those of us who still have a Wedge will have fun and enjoy ourselves.

I have always found the Maserati 3200 appealing and they are dropping in price quite a lot.

A different type of car, but I do miss my Jag XJR8. Just over 400bhp with simple pulley upgrade on supercharger. Real bargain superbarge and maintainance costs were low too.

I would have to get another TVR even if it wasn't a wedge. Really fancy a Cerbera biggrin

I also have a classic mini that very rarely gets driven and neither does my daily drive a BMW 330D.
Modern cars are just soooooooooo boring to drive.

I have to agree with you, nothing (and I have owned over 70 cars the majority being sports cars ie Subaru Impreza, bm m3 (e36), fiat coupe 20v turbo, etc etc) comes close to the TVR wedge.

Have just tinkered with the adjustable fuel pressure regulator on my 390....Wow....no flat spots now or anything. Crikey does it move biggrin

I am using now like my every day car and have well exceeded the limited mileage on my policy ! Oops.......eek

I've thought about the Reliant Scimitar, and tend to agree, however I don't really like the styling. BMW's just seem a little too chav these days, as do Scoobys.

Going back to Reliant I always thought that the SS1 was a pretty little car, and quite nippy with the Nissan turbo unit... too quiet though.

Just seen this in classifieds though.

I too quite like the 928. It is an awesome car and value for money but I would imagine a bit pricey to maintain as all the parts are made by Porsche and a mere purchase of a nut and bolt could make it a financial write off. Still, it stays in my list of favourites as I dream on.

mmmmmm it is a difficult one......but my 280i is such an early one someone whould have to stump up a large wedge of cash to make it worth me parting with it.

I did enjoy driving my 1970's XJ12C, but the engine was a right swine to work on, but as "high speed 3 peice suites" go you can't really beat it.

If I had "lottery" money it would have to be an XJ220 or see if a certain owner would part with the TVR Speed 12! (Maybe I could "own" it and he could "look after it" for me...)

I just love the Wedge really - a 350/390 would be nice over the 280...just a bit more poke.
But then the 280 can return just about 30 mpg with care... (yeah, yeah, whatever modern equivalent is now - it's still pretty good for a 30 year old car). I think Chimps look good, but not very comfy for me. I still like the wedge styling too.

Best fun car was my Marlin kit car. Very light, and pretty damn quick with a tuned Triumph 2500 pushing it along. Very small but, no doors, getting in and out got harder and harder...
Racing a Porsche 928 Turbo from standing start and keeping up was fun to see the Porsche driver's expression...not fast flat out, but very good acceleration.

Triumph Stags for a laid back tourer, but unreliable, rusty etc etc... shame.
Scimitars too, nice style idea, but a bit rough until the SE6 came along.
TR6 nice to look at, but small (for me) and rusty.

Memorable drives -
A BMW M535i Alpina. The old square style car - very quick. No idea on BHP, but it would get to 65mph in FIRST gear !! (No I'm not kidding...). (Alpina was a company that did BMW conversions, and were officially warranted by BMW. Sort of like a Ford RS but more so. Very very pricey as I remember...)

The very early and first Vauxhall Cavalier Sri 16v (what later became the 'red top' engine). A real sleeper... looked (and behaved) totally boring and ordinary, until you hit the throttle...

A home modified Ford Fiesta 1100 but with a Lotus Twin cam engine. Very quick, very very unpredictable, and dangerous. A bit like a scalded cat with balance problems.... torque steer was really bad.

Can't say I remember much else.... An awful lot of boring crap, then and now.....
