OK so appologies if this has been done before, but after reading the thread on "whats the most un PH car" I have seen a few cars on there that with a little TLC and cash could maybe be turned into a fun piece of kit, kind of along the lines of the Lada that was tuned by Lotus to be a bit of go'er i.e. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqFZZbiFi-8
I was thinking along the lines of a Nissan Micra, idea there must be a bigger Nissan Engine that would fit that engine bay, plus uprated chassis, and some none to bling wheels and tyre combo's.
So, what do you think, suggestions please.

If you can get a Suzuki Waggen R to go fast you could just spare them all from destruction when I become god.

Is this a thread to find the fastest car that looks like it's rubbish?

Rover 620 turbo?

Although if the end result is to "win" at traffic lights I'd rather spend money on getting my insecurity issues fixed by a mental health professional.

You can fit a Pulsar engine or similar into a Micra

What about getting an older shape Skoda Felicia and sticking a 1.8T VAG lump inside it?

Daewoo Nexia, it's a Mk2 Astra underneath so a C20LET engine goes in quite nicely. Add as much power as you like and job done.

Buy as sheddy a Primera as you can find with the SR20DE engine.

If it comes with one remove the spoiler and any badging.

Contact Ed@Fusion Motorsport and ask him to supply and fit the turbo/manifold/injectors arrangement from an SR20DET, chip the ECU with a Nistune board and have him map it up to 8psi(actuator pressure). Shouldnt cost more than a grand or so.

Enjoy baiting and leaving for dust many a hot hatch and diseasel rep mobile.

A Rover Metro with a K series up front?

A Fiat Uno with a quad turbo V12 from a Bugatti EB110? hehe

A Rover 75 with a proper V8 and RWD? Not that 4.6 Ford lump they chucked at the MG ZT.

Or how about a Nissan Bluebird with the RB26 from a Skyline GTR or a SR20 instead?

Just some suggestions

I would think importing a Honda Jazz VTECyo would be an easy starting point.

Ahh but therein lies a great thing, there are loads of aftermarket tuning accessories for that engine, it was after all fitted to the 1997 to 2004 Mustang GT, so there are; superchargers, cams, new headers, injectors, etc. etc. you could make a lot of power out of that engine, plus they are very robust, 500bhp is easily achievable.

this sounds like the great idea.

Alternative idea is to get a shed of a picasso and somehow fit the internals from one of the C4 WRC cars

ie this

with the engine from this

Good point, I hadn't thought about the tunability[sic] of it, and coming from a genuine Mustang owner I can't really argue the odds hehe

I would say a Citroen Picasso (original shape) and fit something suitably twin-turboed or with a mid-mount V8....

For the money no object end of things I'd like a Q7 V12 TDI.

No one would expect the speed available from something that big!

On a more realistic note some crazy volvo 240s have been produced using V8s or Suburu turbo engines.

I know someone who has done this, and it is fairly quick.

There were rumours years ago of a Skoda Rapid (the rear engine one, normally a 1.3 carb engine, 60hp on a good day) running about with a Rover V8 fitted. The engine bay was certainly big enough to fit something fairly large in, so I'll go for a scabby Skoda Estelle or Rapid with a W8 or VR6 engine from a Passat.
