renting a car for the day....

i'm planning to rent either an atom 160 or caterham for a track day soon, my question is, is there anyway I can cover myself against the deposit (seems to usually be around 2.5k for these)?
Or is it a case of thats the risk you take? obviously rather then crashing your own car of course!

When you rent a Caterham R300 from us (BookaTrack) we offer the option of paying £100 per driver to waive the insurance excess altogether. However, that is still dependent on the instructor giving you the all-clear. If they feel you're not safe enough we reserve the right to either refund or mandate an instructor in the car all day (chargeable).

Can't imagine there's any company that's going to let you head out on track with no liability at all without at least assessing the driver(s) to be honest.

That depends.
If you're long-legged (or big-footed) you might find the Caterham uncomfortable.
I spent a decent chunk of time in both last weekend and just couldn't connect with the Caterham at all. The Atom, however, was epic.

All down to personal taste, I guess.

Don't forget there's the SV Caterham - much bigger cockpit and wider pedal box.

The atom 300 is a quicker car, in the right hands. However, I'd say that for 99% of drivers they would find it easier to get 90% of the performance from the Caterham than the Atom, and it's certainly much easier to drive on the limit.

Horses for courses - as you say. The atom has never struck me as being particularly novice friendly whenever i've driven them.
