I have tatty Imolas and am considering options. I've thought about respraying mself, professional refurb (powder-coat or respray) secondhand set of Estorils (rarer than hen's teeth) or just living with tatty wheels.

Does anyone have any refurb company recommendations in the north-west Kent area? I live in Bromley.

I used 'Spit and Polish' in Tonbridge a fews ago to refurb my BMW alloys. They came back like new - should have expected for the price TBH yikes

I think that there is somewhere in Darenth (?) area as well that I've heard good things about.

Dont use spit and polish, there quality went down hill last time i used them imo.

Definetly recomend Premier Wheels though:

Fantastic job for about £60 per wheel. Nearly a year later and they still look like new as you would expect.

Thanks for the heads-up guys, especially Premier, which is close by. I've had a quote of £260 + VAT for full refurb inside and out, similar to Lepsons prices. I'll look into Premier I think. Can't see the Estorils on ebay though...

Not in your area but I've just visited MaxPowder in Hemel Hempstead to get a quote on my two slightly curbed fronts.

The guy has a proper set up with dip tanks, machining facilities, powder coat booth, oven, ect ect.

He dips, machines, welds or epoxy fills, hand finishes then powder primes, followed by paint in your exact colour match.

The wheels are then clear coat powder coated for ultimate durability

I reviewed his work and it's absolutely spot on, he has a good reputation locally and has been in business for over 10 years mostly looking after trade customers.

He quoted me £90.00 for the two fronts including fitting my new tyres and balancing, this was based on me taking the wheels off the car delivering, collecting the finished wheels & re-fitting myself.

As far as I'm concerned £90.00 is an absolute bargain for the work involved especially as I get tyre fitting and balancing thrown in for free.

I have held off refurbishing my front wheels until my tyres needed replacing for this reason, two new Toyo TR1 tyres off the internet, fitted & balanced on two properly refurbished wheels all for £215.00.

Bargain!

I used WheelDoctor for a set of corroded Subaru wheels last year. They're mobile and cover your area. Paid £60+VAT per wheel for them to be stripped, acid dipped and powder coated, came back like new and they were pretty rough in the first place.

Ive currently got a wheel from my wifes TT with Spit and Polish Tonbridge. She sneezed and "bumped" a traffic island, so the wheel is bent. Spit and Polish are repairing and refurbing. (note I didnt want to refurb as the curb is used as a rail but they say they will be heating it so the paints going to suffer)

I'll let you know what it looks like. The wheels I have seen sat waiting in their reception to go out, diamond cut and polished BBS cross spokes for example, looked pretty special.

We use spit and polish, always good professional and dependable,I have just had my wheels on my own 500 done in gloss black was a bit unsure but now I like them a lot seems to look good on a yellow one,all feedback has been favourable so far,IMO would rather this than a set of dubious quality cheap wheels......but thats another story!
