Insurance repairs - are only write-offs recorded?

Don't think it would be recorded. But you would have to declare that it had been accident damaged and repaired if a buyer asks you. So on that basis, yes it will be worth less than one which had never been smashed. (It might also be apparent to a buyer or engineer acting on behalf of a buyer, during a pre-purchase inspection.)

However I would be well miffed if a dealer offered me less having had the work done at WSChris - it seems the other side have admitted liability

I can see how you would feel that way, but ask yourself if you had the choice of buying two identical cars, one of which was original condition and one of which had been in a £30k accident with a perfect repair done at WS, which would you choose to buy? How much of a discount would you expect in order to tempt you to buy the accident repair car???I for one would certainly expect the repaired car to be a bit cheaper, otherwise why wouldn't you just choose the original car every time.

No it isn't.... It's only recorded if its a total loss.....It states what class damage was recorded.
As for the OP, there will be no record....
I know of at least 4 owners of TVR's, that have done a bit of offroading, and had their cars repaired out of their own pocket...no record whatsoever.....

This is exactly what happened to me. I found out that the car I bought from a dealer had been in an accident. I checked and the repairs had been done at AM Works although there were a few panel alignment issues. The repair had been done in 2010 and comprised new offside rear wing, new drivers door and new offside rear wheel. The passenger door was also replaced as it had some damage from being opened into a bollard so the owner had that done at the same time.
I was far from happy as had I known about the accident repair I would never have purchased the car. As there was no structural repair and just bodywork repair I wasn't offered a refund but I did get the alignment issues sorted out and a letter from the dealer stating that they would not down value the car at any future date should I wish to part exchange or sell it.
My damage repair doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as yours and I'm sure it will come back from Works as good as new. One upside is that I won't get corrosion around the doors bottoms and locks as the new primer and paint were used for the respray.

The wonderful world of insurance!! To be fair, if the car is repaired properly (and one would assume Works Service are the best placed people to achieve that) then your car should be no different to one that rolled off the production line. The biggest issue with an accident repaired car is your own mental attitude towards it as in your mind you are convinced it isn't the same anymore.
Let works service do their magic and see how you feel. If you are of a mind to do so you can always ask a dealer to sell it for you on commission. As I found to my disappointment when my car's previous owner asked the dealer to sell on commission, the only question the dealer asks is 'has the car either been declared a write off or had any structural repairs following an accident?'. The answer in my case was of course no but the question that should be asked is 'has the car been involved in any accidents?'

That would certainly be the decent thing to do, but it is no way legally required unless you are a dealer - and then you only have to declare if it's a repaired Cat write-off. Any decent PPI should spot repairs instantly though.
