if your Aston is less than 3 yrs old or in extended warranty, it comes included. I bank with Barclays Premier which includes European breakdown cover. Locktons Aston insurance includes European breakdown cover too. So I have a choice of 3 ..........

Never bothered in the Aston, but am about to go on a jaunt (of which more in another post in a wee while) and the AA quote for 3 days is 74 quid including repatriation or taking to destination, hotel and hire car as needed.

Thanks for reminding me ! I'm not really used to the idea yet. I got an email from Stratstones on Sunday about my V12VR order and in passing they mentioned they had just sold my V8S - made me quite sad but they did say it went to a good home as it was someone's 3rd Aston. Waiting til 1st March Astonless is becoming rather difficult....

yep - it's membership of RAC they provide, regardless of insurance

Astons own cover will almsot certianly be superior but it does provide extra peace of mind and covers my everyday car too of course, though that currently is in Audi's warrnaty period and therefore comes with cover !

If you click on the link you can download the pdf with conditions

Had a quick peak there and looks similar to the HSBC Premier but with some extras !! I note the eligibility criteria is being reduced confused and they do the usual trick on the will-writing service rolleyes I wouldn't use either of them for investments as there are better returns going solo.

I am now out of warranty and out of Locktons but the European insurance may be more pertinent at renewal next March. Thanks for the heads up smile

I think most high street banks are as bad as each other - I've heard the various premier services described as what you should (used to) get as a regular retail customer but now have to pay for

But the reality is for £17.50 per month I do get to speak to UK based people in a specialist department which gets things done far more easily, even though I shouldn't have to pay for the privilege. Irksome but the reality of the situation

For me, a few of the options are useful but they aren't the rasin d'etre for going premier

Karen and I would close our 2 premiers if they charged us a penny Jonby and there are certain circumstances in which they could theoretically try yes

The main attraction for us - as well as the service you highlight - is the unbelievable mortgage rate. Where else could you borrow nearly 500k (originally) at just over 2%, and never have to pay a dime for your travel insurance ever again ?? smile

I was made aware by my "relationship manager" that the travel insurance only covered you for the first country you visit of a trip. You need to phone them to add extra countries in. In her case, she had a direct flight to somewhere in the Caribbean, then took a connecting flight to one of the islands - apparently only the place with the direct flight was initially covered. Just a fyi...

Darren - not sure if you are referring to HSBC or Barclays ??

Whenever I go abroad I simply use the notification area in the HSBC account and list our travel plans including any stops (usually Dubai), which they acknowledge quickly.

Like any other insurance I suppose you only ever discover these things if in a claim situation so thanks for getting me thinking smile

This was HSBC. I like your solution of using the notification area. :-)
