Not the American one wink

Has anyone been? I'm planning on going next year to coincide with my birthday and the city's celebrations the day after. I've got a few friends over there now as I've been learning Russian.

What was it like, people, sites, shops etc etc?

Cheers smile
Paul.

It's a few years since I was there and it was for business so didn't do too much socialising but it was by far the nicest Russian city I've visited, not as busy as Moscow but more alive than any other city. Lots of history and most of it reasonably well cared for. Plenty of good restaurants too. Quite a Nordic feel to it.

Great place to visit but you'll need some spending money, eating and drinking is not cheap, in fact nothing is cheap! I felt I was being scammed every time I opened my wallet.
