Saint Petersburg?
Discussion
It's a few years since I was there and it was for business so didn't do too much socialising but it was by far the nicest Russian city I've visited, not as busy as Moscow but more alive than any other city. Lots of history and most of it reasonably well cared for. Plenty of good restaurants too. Quite a Nordic feel to it.
fantastic city ,
well worth a visit .............The Hermitage museum ( winter palace )
is a must , and visit St.Isaac Cathedral great views from the top
also take a walk over to the old citadel , and while there hava a look at the Aurora WW1 destroyer
that fired on the winter palace during the revolution
and not forgetting take a trip over to Peterhof ....great palace with fountain
theres also a good "knocking shop" near the Admiralty building
Great hotel to stay in is the Astoria ,
