SRO SIGNS WATER DEAL FOR BRITISH F3 & GT CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Stephane Ratel Organisation, organiser and promoter of the Avon Tyres British Formula Three and British GT Championships, has signed a deal with Malaysian company Mofaz Dagang Sdn Bhd for its Alla Fonte brand to be the official mineral water of the two championships.

The deal means that the water will be available to all drivers and teams in both championships for the remainder of the 2004 season.

The alliance between SRO and Mofaz Dagang Sdn Bhd is part of the fresh new look which SRO Limited wants to showcase. The association also means that Mofaz Dagang Sdn Bhd becomes the first Malaysian company to be linked in an official capacity with high-profile events such and British F3 and GT.

“SRO is pleased to be associated with Alla Fonte and Mofaz Dagang Sdn Bhd,” said Stephane Ratel. “The British F3 and GT championships are globally recognized and attract drivers from around the world. This association provides us with an excellent opportunity to promote the championships in Malaysia and beyond in the future,” he added.

John Daniels of More Impex UK Limited, the sole distributor and importer of Alla Fonte mineral water in the UK said: “This is a great deal for us. I am a big motor sport fan and to be associated with these two championships is a great marketing and promotional opportunity for us.”

Alla Fonte mineral water is extracted from an underground natural source of subterranean water bearing Rocky Strata. It is also produced with strict adherence to the standards set by the Health Ministry of Malaysia, which conforms to the International Health Standards.

Err, am I the only person wondering why Ted's putting press releases on the forum rather than on the news sections of PH???

Because it is the most pointless "who gives a s**t" press release ever?

Perhaps the SRO would have been better off trying to promote the race series (which is what they are paid to do after all) and then release a press release about how they had negotiated better TV times or an increased crowd.

I don't want to see rubbish releases like that polluting a fine site like Ted's, I think he has graced it by sticking it in here to be honest.

Having now tried some of this water, I can say that it tastes quite strongly of tapwater, and certainly has nothing going for it in terms of flavour or mineral content. What truly amazes me, however, is that the water is imported all the way from Malaysia. Excuse me, but what's the point? Fine that it's a Malaysian company, I suppose, but what is the point of shipping thousands of plastic bottles full of Malaysian groundwater half way (or more) around the globe, just to keep GT teams and their guests refreshed on a hot day. What's wrong with Malvern (near a famous manufacturer), Buxton (it tastes OK!) or even Perrier (SRO being French). Bizarre.
