Hi, Myself & family are off to Florida next month & wondered if anyone could offer any advice / recommendations ?
My Sister & her family ( two adults & three children ) just want a family car but I would like to hire something a bit different like a Mustang or Charger.
Anyone used any companies who operate from Sanford Airport that can offer any advice ? I know most companies won't guaranteee your choice but what's the chances of getting a Mustang if that's what you book ?
Thanks in advance.
Phil.

Bear in mind that a Mustang is only big enough for a couple of people. The rear seats are a tight squeeze even for children, so consider that if there are more than 2 of you. Charger will work well for 2 adults and 3 kids - has a roomy trunk too. Mustang's is only big enough to get two medium sized cases in.
Rental choice is a little more limited at Sanford than MCO. Unless you use Hertz or Avis (where you can specify your car choice), you pretty much have to take what you're offered. That could mean a Kia or Hyundai, or a VW in addition to domestic mid/full size cars.

Totally get the sentiment, but remember, anything with two doors is going to be cramped in the back, so if you have family in tow, things can get a bit miserable for the kids over a two week vacation.
Trunk aperture in the Camaro is a bit of a joke too.

I can echo what has been said about the more limited choice at Sanford. I don't think Hertz allow you to specify a Mustang there, which you can get at MCO Orlando International.

One option could be to pick up a basic car at Sanford and swap over at MCO to something fancy part way through the trip?

We booked a car through a UK firm that subcontracted to Alamo in Sanford.

Got off the plane, walked up to the desk and the very first thing they'll do is try to offer you an upgrade. A little negotiation should get you into something more interesting.

Yeah that's a good trick too (assuming they have more interesting cars available). Got an amazing deal on a Camaro SS that way..

We ended up in a white Volvo C70 T5 (folding tin top). For another $100 over 14 days. It went well and was perfect for cruising down to the keys.

Alamo in Sanford have limited special cars (I'm not sure about the others), the best I've had (rented from there about a dozen times) was as above (A Volvo C70 T5 Convertible).....my upgrade was for free (same price as the Kia Rio smile)

Hi, Thanks for the replies. Looking into it further it does appear there is limited choice at Sanford. Think I'll do what's being suggested & book a standard car & see what upgrade I can get.
Other thing is my 'child' is my 17 y/o Son who is now 6' 3'' now so it'll be the Wife in the back so maybe the Mustang is out.
