Thinking of going to have a look at this motor:

http://www.derbytradecars.co.uk/showroom/c-14193-2...

But it not being a garage with a knowledge of TVRs makes me a little concerned. Also would like to know if it's had any work done to it etc etc.

If anyone knows the car can they let me know?

Cheers guys,

Andy

I went to view it back in late March, just before I bought mine.
It does seem a decnet car, but it was sold by TVR Ecosse not long before , the dealer said he was selling it for a customer of theres who had changed jobs and needed something more practical.

Thanks was it at the same dealer? Derby Trade Sales? Can you remember any info like whether it had any replacement parts. You would think a new clutch by that point.

I tried searching for the number plate on google and it turned up an old post on PH from June 2011 showing that it had changed owners twice in 3/4 months and then presumably again.

Looks a bit suspicious to me, may be it's a problem car.

Dodgy?!

Previous Keeper Details
Number of previous keepers 4
Most recent keeper change 05/10/2011
Dates of other changes 06/05/2011, 05/03/2011, 20/04/2010

Mileage Details
Source Date Mileage
DVLA 13/10/2011 40,000
DVLA 16/03/2011 38,000

They're selling it at 40,000 miles so it basically hasn't moved for nearly a year! and lots of keeper changes. Think I could get a bargain or best to steer clear?

Thanks,

Andy

Cant remember much detail, he did offer it to me at 500 quid less than the (IIRC) 16990 they were asking then, as I said I could take it and not worry about warranty.

Worth a look , but there are as good cars around.

It struck me that Ecosse had sold it and then it was for sale again......

Maybe contact TVR Ecosse and ask them about it.

Devils advocate: a lot of T cars have had the dash replaced after failure, seemingly within the first year? When looking I came across two cars that had dash replacements between 2-3000 miles, which might explain the difference if it hasn't been calculated into the true milage, or the dash has been swapped for a used unit.

And, the car may have had a bad run of people who have not realised what it's like to have a small but powerfull and impractical car until after they had lived with it for a few months, or may have had other life commitments, it's been tough times 2010/11.

But to me, colour coded engine bay hints at respray, which could mean crash or stone chip front end respray.

Me- I'd worry more about current condition and have a warranty/contingency fund than I would be worried about previous owners. Check the car out and take someone experienced if you can.

Mileage is stored on the dash ecu so changing the LCD won't make any difference.

Yeah that would be great if you don't mind. Bit of a trek for me.

I've just spoken to TVREcosse and they did a front end respray and colour coded the engine bay when they sold the car as well as a bit of other detailing. It was supplied to someone in Derby who obviously drove it for a couple of hundred miles then traded it in (maybe it wasn't for him).

Cheers,

Andy
