Glovebox catch broken solutions ?

Hi,

As per the title, the catch on the glovebox has final broken loose after 14 years , have read Steve Healths idea on replacing this with a loft style catchment arrangement.

Has anyone had any alternative experiences of getting their box to open and close properly ?

(No gaffer tape jokes please)

I think the bible is saying the original item IS a loft catch...ie...shoudl be able to replace with 'OEM' parts from B&Q ;-)

Thanks for the advice (The diagram in the bible could be abit clearer).

The issue seems to be the surface area of the catch is too small for the weight of the box ( I guess griff owners have a bigger heavy box than chimps ? (lol)

If the weight of the glove-box lid is too great and it breaks free of the magnet you can allviate this by simply tightening up the two hinge bolts to create more friction.

Good advice , I hadn't thought of tightening up the hinge bolts !

Plus the original catches are only a couple of quid from RS

Mines been broken for must be 2 years now. I wedge a paper tissue into the right hand top corner, but must get it sorted properly .

Just bought a replacement from TVR Power, just under £5.

Was good old Velcro as a temp repair that worked ok, just not great looking as a finish when open.
