How much for a 4.3BV?
Discussion
The classic Grif buying conditions apply- condition/history etc. They seem to be the same(ish) money as the early 5L cars. However you can get lucky & find a bargain. Incidentally, the BV's valves are the same size as those in a 5L according to the bible......
I've got one & cannot recommend the experience highly enough.....What a noise!!!!!!!!!!

And for every genuine B.V. there are x non genuine, so the story goes.
If you find one check it out with the clubs archivist.
Good luck with your search.
my car was originally a 1991 4 litre, which last year i took to TVR power to have a 4.3BV engine installed.
so is mine a 'non-genuine'? and if it is, why is that not as good as one having this engine fitted originally?

because its not original?
It all depends on your viewpoint. One issue is with insurance as your car is a 4 litre that has been subsequently modified/upgraded to a 4.3BV specification whereas an original 4.3BV from that factory is a 4.3BV originally and is not modified. It would have been registered as a 4 litre, the factory records would have it as a 4 litre. So it is now a 4.3BV. No problem with that except if someone wanted a genuine straight from the factory 4.3BV that was one from day one. Your car doesn't fit that description but I suspect for many, including yourself, it is not an issue.
Its like the TR8 story. Lot of them around but very few original straight from the factory cars. Many TR8s are TR7s that have been converted. Are they genuine TR8S? No. Does that affect the enjoyment that there owners get? No. Are they worth the premium that the factory cars get? For some yes... for others now. Each to their own.
The only real problem comes when a converted TR8 is then passed off as a genuine factory TR8. i.e. something it is strictly not.
