Hi all! Being relatively new to Scotland and having only been up here for a year I wondered what roads or dramatic places get your vote for driving experiences? I certainly don't mean the M8 btw!

I've been enjoying between the borders and Dumfries, but am a bit clueless really - especially further north. This is really just an excuse to post a piccy from last weekend though, sun!!!

Taken on the route down from (?) J14 off the M74 towards Dumfries. If you see me about give me a wave! I saw a convoy of 3 TVR wedges a few weeks ago near Biggar and also a (?) light green/grey chim too - anybody on here?

If you don't mind meeting other PH members who may not drive TVR why not join one of the road runs?

We use a selection of the most dramatic roads.

Sounds excellent, is it a set date each month? Is it through TVRCC or something else?

Again, sounds like a great idea! Certainly not bothered by car type at all, so long as they're a car nut!

Incidentally I had a 996 C4S - absolutely superb cars biggrin

Lovely Car mate!

A82 is nice and sweeping, goes all the way up into the highlands!

Dukes Pass (our aberfoyle) is lovely and twisty! (one of my favs!)

A loop I used to do on the motorbike was

Out back of Bearsden to Balloch
Balloch to Arrochar
Arrochar to Inverary
Inverary to Tyndrum
Tyndrum back down to glasgow via Dukes pass!

Once you are further up north, very little police!

Thanks Rusty - I'll plot out a route via the A82 then!

Of course the police thing would be entirely unnecessary to mention given I've never driven over 60 angel

The next road run is 23 September - I'll buy you a pint if you can keep up with the Flat 500!

Ullapool to Durness is up there in my favourites.

If I was going to do a long run (from glasgow) it would be this:

Yeah you'd be a mad man to do that in a day, but over two days it would be about perfect. Last time I took a drive up north that wasn't for work I ended up doing Durness - Ullapool - Inverness - Loch Tay - Stirling in one sitting aside from very quick loo stop at Tummel Bridge, great run.

One of the best drives I've ever done was the A82/A87 to Skye. One of the first long drives I ever did when I moved to Scotland. I had a 1.2 Clio back then and it was one of the best drives I've ever been on.

Dukes Pass, as already mentioned smile

Even the A9 gets quite enjoyable after Inverness!

Possibly my favourite road though is the B851 from the A9 to Fort Augustus. It's a single track road for most of its length but the view from the summit you'll get to is amazing.
