Diagnose my car

Mondeo mk 4, keyless start. Not responding to the start button at all. Plenty of electricity for anything that will run without the ignition. I've removed the button with a credit card to check the connection, can't check the button without my multimeter. Wife is on the way with tools; I'm going to try disconnecting the battery for a while as that sorted an immobiliser issue I had last year.

Any other ideas?
