I'm going to look at an 03 plate one all being well tomorrow. Full Renault set ice history, very well looked after (supposedly).
Can anyone who owns one tell me about the circlip issue with the gearbox? Does every single one fail or is it luck of the draw? How much is replacement/upgrading to ensure it doesn't happen?
I have posted on cliosport but they don't seem to answer as quickly as you lot normally do!

As far as im aware its a part inside the box that falls off - stopping you being able to change gear.
Box refurb from Agency Transmissions is circa £250-£300. 2nd hand working box is approx. £200.
So its not the end of the world, gearbox is quite easy to change as well if you know what your doing.

No mention of cambelt and its probably about £1k more than you would pay for one on ClioSport.Thats 182 money, not 172 lol. You can buy a very nice 172 Cup for £2k.
Get on the forum, pay the membership, buy a better car
