EXHAUST MOD DONE NOT IMPRESSED!

Had my exhaust done today & I can't tell any difference at all! Went to place recomended on here in Macclesfield but despite being £100.00 worse off it doesn't appear to sound any different (I was told would sound louder & pop & bang on over run but it doesn't)

Looks like a sports exhaust could be on the cards

What did you have done???

I've had the baffles removed and replaced with ss pipes, so now it's straight thru

And boy does it pop and bang more... ask Mr Tony

Sounds like what was described as done to mine but although the noise may be a little deeper it doesn't pop or bang & is definately not worth £100.00 when I can barely tell any difference!

Maybe your car is running lean? maybe if you get a re-map to backfire it will

And I just got advised NOT to have the mod done as the volume would get right on my ti... nerves after 2 weeks!

strange. wonder if its to do with the engine type.

my 4 litre is definitely noticeably different. i've seen kids drop their sweeties and cover their ears... muahahahahahahah

when you stand behind the car does it sound more raw?

try second gear , up to 4k revs and take your foot off the gas and rest it back on gently I SAID GENTLY

hear the difference????

then go find a tunnel

Must admit, i think it sounds better from outside the car. I would be quite happy to drive yours up and down the road for you while you check it out.

interestingly i tried a 5 litre chimaera which had exactly the same exhaust mod (as me)... sounded a lot quieter (although noticeably different) and refused to pop using my old feathering throttle tricks.

Hi i;ve got 5 litre griff

Straight through pipes and precats removed
this still refuses to pop and bang on overrun unless you give it death!!
However it still sounds awesume (time to take main cat out)

No snap and crackle! I am suspicious--and the £100--absurdly cheap-labour is about 2-3hrs--remove exhaust cut open silencer--remove baffles-cut out perforated tubes and replace with SS tubes--the SS tubes alone are about £30-£40 worth--then replace exhaust--ALL FOR A MEASLY £100!!! What this guy has probably done is just remove all or a part of the baffle(perhaps in situ)--the exhaust is louder (a bit) but the sound is "tinny" for want of a better word AND NO snap pop and crackle (Good Lord Holmes,how do you do it?)--back him into a corner and find out just what he did do. My conversion brings down the heavens and yonks of real SP&C including the odd explosion. Good luck!

I bought the sports exhaust from JP as Quinny with the addidtion of the JP / ACT stainless de-cat custom manifolds. Had exactly the same issue regarding noise, rest assured after several weeks running it just sounds absolutely amazing. No hollow yank tank noise either!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had this mod done on my Griff,and like you found no real change in exhaust note.Confused I took the system off leaving just the manifolds and cat Y pipe in place. I fired it up expecting all hell to break loose, not so, STILL quiet!!turns out the main cat was blocked, and acting like a big bung effecting the noise but more importently the power. I have now removed both pre and main cats and the difference is amazing sounds wonderful, and the power is also well up which was an unexpected bonus, so check that all is well with the cats.If the they are restricting the gases and muting the sound then no amount of tinkering with the system will have any effect.

Now i'm even more baffled! I rang them to mention my disappointment & they told me to see how it goes as it should get louder. B*****t I thought then I go out again today & low & behold it seems to be getting louder & I can now get a few pops out of it as well how can this be?? I fail to see how an exhaust can get louder in a few days but it definately seems to be?
Any thoughts?

My motorcycle exhausts were like this. Quiet for a week or so until all the glassfibre wadding had either been blown out or burnt to cinders. Then the noise came back. Ahh, those good old RD400's

I started with a YR5, then RD350, 400E/F etc. Didn't bother with the LC250 went for a 350 instead. The 400 was the best of the bunch though and I monoshocked it. Then I had a Harris framed LC350.
