Staying Warm (Thermals)

I am planning on riding my road bike to work throughout the winter. I assume there are people on here who must do this so what do you wear? Full length thermals? Any recommendations?

I MB to work 15km in winter so: Wool socks, Endura 3/4 shorts, lightweight waterproof trousers, underarmour t-shirt, t-shirt, light fleece, waterproof or windstopper jacket, neckscarf thingy, goretex cap, warm gloves and studded tyres!!!

A wicking top close to the skin helps. Lots of thin layers and seal the gap....

When I was commuting I used to have to leave the house at 5:30am. -7'c was the coldest temperature I saw. The advice above is all excellent. When it got really cold I used to wear an Assos 851 outer with a merino base layer and at least one other top. My legs never really bother me but in the depths Rapha deep winter tights do the job. Hands and feet are key. The only gloves I've had which really work over any distance are Pearl Izumi lobster gloves. Cycling boots make a big difference to your feet. Northwave Farenheit are better than Shimano MW80 for me. Oh, and a skull cap really helps too. Puncturing in that weather is desperately unpleasant and led me to invest in some Stans latex puncture sealant which seems to work pretty well.
