Hi guys,

Just joined the tvr tuscan owners club this weekend =) - was fine yesterday but now the car is beeping at me every 30seconds that the key is in the ignition (even if the engine isn't on).
No fault codes or lights that I can see to signify a problem...anyone know what I need to check please?!

Many thanks for any and all help!

Low battery? Does it still beep if the engine is on?

yep - runs fine but will keep beeping every 30 seconds while engine is running or when engine is off but keys are in ignition =/

Right, I'll leave this to people who actually know what they are on about now then hehe

Battery voltage going between 11.7 and 11.8.

When I turn the key in the ignition to activate the electrics (though engine still off) it makes 3 clonking sounds from the front middle of the car..is that normal? (is it part of the checks?

Do you have air on if so that could be the electromagnetic clutch on the compressor

It may have started happening after we turned on the air con as today was the first time we used it - however it is not on now and the beeping persists.

What do I need to check for/move/reset in case it is that?

I think you could be onto something - tried changing the temperature/fans and it made the beeping more frequent (about once every 15seconds)

Not a proper solution but you can turn off the beep in the settings (if it's the warning buzzer you're talking about)

Do I need to connect up a laptop to access the settings?

My wife would probably like aircon if pos I expect - so if it's as simple as getting it regassed I'll pay for it.

Should I just take it to halfords - 50quid for aircon service seems reasonable?

Thank you for all the advice by the way guys - it's nice to be part of such a supportive community even if I'm just leeching knowledge at the moment!!

Have you checked your clutch fluid level. From memory when I had this problem it was low fluid levels. The reservoir is above the pedal box.

If you mean to turn off the beeping, then no. Just turn the volume down in the LCD screen menu (hold down fog lights button then tap the right big twisty button to access)

Have noticed if the fan/aircon temperature is set to cold (blue) 3 clonks from electromagnetic clutch - medium (green) 2 clonks and if it's on hot when electrics turned, no clonks or beeping. Going to get air con serviced at Halfords and see if it fixes it - I'm assuming it's a pressure problem.

Not wanting to tell you what to do but i have it on good understanding for the Air Con to function at its optimum performance only re-gas with max 650gramms of liquid as it will hold more. The clunking sounds may well be dependant where you have the setting for hot/cold air flow and motorised flap moving to set point fan does not run untill motor/flap in position as cold air con comes through steering column hot does not appear to on mine, sounder wait till you drive on a cold morning tells you its cold outside cancel and back on in 30 sec but as earlier post may be just be fliud levels if you press the top button of brake fluid reservoir behind pedal box light should also come on display as if hand brake applied along with sounder maybe they are set at different levels ie;sounder before light when level drops. It can sometimes be Clutch slave leaking a little to cause fluid level to drop as i think the reservoir is for both brake and clutch hopefully not.
Good luck

So the car clutch and the air con clutch both have fluid levels? Are they separate?

Thanks for the post Gralin - please feel free to tell me what to do as I'm completely new to Tuscans! I'm sorry but I found it hard to understand your post and what I need to do =/

Darren do not think any level sensors to air con only if it needs re-gassing.
With ignition on not engine running you say you hear clunks that is the stepper motor moving flap into the correct Heating/Cooling position do you then hear a clunk as you depress the aircon switch showing as a blue light to the right of temp control knob this only works after the flaps get to set position if no click or clunk there is a good bit about the air-con on attached web page G Varley, there is a stat on the pipe work above passenger footwell/dash top that sometimes fails causing the air con not to work which as a trial you can link out and blue light will be on and also hear air con clutch engaging. The blue light shows as in in circuit from switch before stat so make sure you can hear clutch engaging, Couple useful web bits here and good luck

Do Tuscans' without Aircon still have the switch with blue led light on the temperature control?

Just wondering if I'll go there and they'll say...you don't even have Aircon!

By the way - is it worth investing in a laptop cable? Would it give me info such as why it is beeping through the diagnostics?

lol typical - I bet I don't even have air con..and sods law it's now stopped beeping at me at all on any temp setting.

what do you want from me car?!!

On a different note..wow what a car - absolutely love it to bits. Just makes me crazy happy driving it. If any car had a soul, it'd be a TVR.
