Hi

I still really pleased with my 996, but I'm going to upgrade the Suspension, it's too soft at the moment and feels a bit vague at the front end at speed. I'm also getting a bit of under steer in tighter corners (2nd gear) when I prod the throttle, and I'd like power over steer not under steer.

So the options so far are,

The ROW M030 Porsche set up, I like the idea of only dropping 10m and not affecting warranty and I've heard it’s a good balance between handling and comfort. The cost seems a bit steep though. Its £650 for the kit from carewal, plus fitting, so say £1200 all in.

Or

Going to someone like Nimemeister and letting them install lowering springs and a fast road spec alignment. I don't want the car to low though and the 30mm does sound a bit much. My cars not going to see the track so it's got to be compliant and still have a similar ride quality to current setup. Any used Ninemeister for lowering and alignment?

This should workout at about £500.
I’d really like to test out both setups before I purchase.
Is the Porsche setup worth the extra cash?

Any information from anybody whose undertaken a similar project would be great.

Regards

I got the equivalent to the ninemeister setup, and for the road it was perfect, but for the track I found it still a little too soft.
My neighbours c4 had the 10mm M030 ROW setup and it was amazing on track, but he felt it was a little harsh on the road.

If you are not going to track it go for just the springs..it looks much better too.

If you are then I would go for the porsche setup ...I probably should have in hindsight too.

What you need to do is to go along to a porsche club track day...even as a passenger and ask for rides in different cars.

RMA days at bedford also attract alot of 996s...

...I don't think just changing the springs should ever be done. For best results, you need perfectly matched springs/shocks. Going down the cheapskate route will always compromise the handling. Porsche spends millions getting the engineering/handling right and then a couple of (not well thought out) aftermarket mods can ruin that design integrity.

I'm not saying stay OEM at all costs, but it's better to upgrade properly or not upgrade at all. (IMHO)
