Have any of you modified the Ford Cologne 2.9V6? I was thinking in terms of a HL cam allied to an induction system and reprogrammed chip to match. Can't find anything on the net.

You can't fit too much of a hot cam to the V6, apparently the con rods won't take it. Kent 276 is about the max, or so I've been told. Not sure about the induction system, but check out Podie's review of the "Full Podie! by Austec.

Did you change your cam Podie, couldn't see a mention of it on the thread?

Nope... cam is standard. I looked into changing the cam, but didn't like the reduced rev range, so went the ECU remap route...

Not sure how true it was but I have been told that 250bhp is possible from the 2.9 cologne engine, that's an extra 70 horses from standard!

Normally aspirated, that was.

Any thoughts on that possibility?

There was an article in Retro mag on this engine. If you mail me through my profile on monday/tuesday to remind me I'll try and scan it in for you. Bear in mind I'm going away for the w/e and have to rebuild the PC when I get back I may not be that quick in getting it to you.

I'm afraid I can't remember anything about the article as I don't have the car any more so just glanced at it.

Regards,

Mark

Probably possible, but I imagine the driveability is quite poor...

Mine has enough power and torque to pull strongly and smoothly, but also it's perfectly useable in all conditions...
