.............fix a couple of oil leaks..........ggggrrrrrrr, ever started one of them jobs you wish you hadn't!!
so the plan was to replace crank oil seal, fit new sump cover and change a couple of pipes, how hard could that be!
drained oil and took off front pulley, bolt was i little tight but i have a handy tool i made for stopping the pulley from turning and then laying on my side under car with both my feet on a long breaker bar and holding onto the chassis the bolt finally went, a couple of taps from behind and pulley was off. the seal on the other hand put up more of a fight and a good hour to finally pull out, even tried the self taping screw method but finally a pair of circlip pliers managed to lever it out.
then came the sump gasket, not too bad to get off and all was going well right up until i over tightened it and split the gasket!!
so gave up with that until i can get new gasket! oil pipes from pump to filter, i'll just whip them off and replace with new, i've got some length of new pipe in the garage............by the time i'd realised they were steel braided pipes it was too late there was no going back and omg they weren't not going to come off easily, even after i'd removed pipes from car and working on the bench, they ain't easy to get off!!
do the 2 oil pipes coming off the sandwich plate/oil pump need to be steel braided and if so any suggestion for what to replace them with that will be as strong but easier to bend and fit? should i stick with jubilee clips holding pipes to oil fitting or is there a better solution?

Evening
I replaced all the pipes on ma old 390, crap job. I got pipe via eBay wihich specified could be used for oil as it was strengthened and could take the heat too.. It wasnt braided on the outside like a sporty brake pipe.
I think it was 6 lengths in total to cut and replace, messy job.. Replaced all the jubilees too.

I'd asked the people who made my SS brake lines if they could also make my oil lines in SS.
The answer was no. Apparently they can make anything in SS if it's a "fitting" thread, but in the
case of the oil lines it is "pipe" thread, not "fitting". I went with a SS sleeve-over kit instead.
