Blue Driver - how good?

Considering purchase of Blue Driver Wireless Sensor and the use of their iPhone app.

Has anyone experience of this technology who could offer a valid opinion as to its efficiency?

So for all intents and purposes, (to save anyone else searching) this is an iPhone App and OBDII adaptor with bluetooth transmitter so you can monitor how many fault codes you rack up over the course of a journey.

Other features include gauges which apparently work in real time, although I would have my doubts.

What possible information do you need to know about your car whilst driving it that your current HUD doesn't already provide?...

Depends on your definition of real time, but diagnostics requests (what this will use), can be plenty quick enough, dependent on the vehicle.

It's more about how that information is being transmitted to the read-out, via bluetooth, that would be the sticking point I would have thought?

If you've nothing constructive to say perhaps you should say nothing if all you're interested in is trying to belittle others whilst making yourself sound clever. Not very wise of you.

What appeals to me is the convenience of the package seeing as it bluetooths to an instrument I already have about my person most all of the time. And if the thing works well in comparison to other scan tools then I see no point in buying a scan tool.

If you cared to look into the facilty more you'd likely find out it does a bit more than your unfortunate comments suggest. For a kick off Blue Driver update the app for free for life once the premium package, a one time payment, is purchased. And it's not silly money.

There are other benefits too that I'm aware of but frankly I was hoping it would be me receiving more information here and not me having to clarify my asking because of your unfortunate sarcastic tone. All rather too common place these days on PH.

But the car you already have, it does have gauges, surely?
This gadget = 99USD + Subscription for their App (if you want premium features)
My OBDII scanner capable of reading and clearing codes in seconds = £20, no subscription.

It does suggest that you want to use your iPhone as a toy, but I'm happy to be enlightened as to what possible circumstance this would be of greater advantage to you...

£39 U.K actually - allegedly it's more than just a fault code reader / clearer, which is why I asked here if anyone has knowledge of its overall functionality. Silly me

No, but your reply did. I, and I'm sure many others, didn't know what 'Blue Driver' was and we now have a basic and presumably accurate description of what it does.

If you read his post, other than informing the rest of us what it does, is ask what additional info do you need in addition to the standard in car dials. Seems like a perfectly reasonable question to me. I appreciate there is more going on than is displayed in car which would be useful, especially if diagnosing faults, but I think you've taken his post completely the wrong way.

I would have thought it obvious the question was asked directly to those who might know so as they could inform me of their opinion. They would likely be persons who have owned or used Blue Driver. Simple.

Unless of course, you've seen a Smurf behind the wheel somewhere. Well have you Charles?
