Getting fed up with lugging an 18-70 and 70-300 on holiday, and given that the 300 range is rarely needed thinking of buying an 18-200.
Question - apart from the zoom lock, is there any difference between the VRI and VRII models? 2nd hand VRI's are available for around £350, a considerable saving on £600 for the VRII.
Any thoughts and advice appreciated.

Not that much difference, the changes for the newer version are quoted below.

The revised version features a new zoom mechanism to combat 'zoom creep' (one of the most common user complaints about the original lens), along with a zoom lock switch to keep the lens compact when carried. Improved 'Super Integrated Coating' promises to reduce flare and ghosting while size, weight and optical construction remain unchanged.
