Well Pet Op has taken the plunge and bought his first Porsche! I suppose on and off i have been looking for years and bought other sporty cars in the meantime. But taking the bull by the horns having spent the last 12 months seriously browsing ive done it!
So when i finish my Afghan tour end of Oct, ill be the owner of a very nice 54reg 996 C4S, complete with PSE, PCM2(well it looks better than nothing)and excellent history etc.
Been browsing the usual suspects in the independent world such as 911V and Paragon but it was RSJ that got the nod. Having been gazumped on another car this week, i decided to get to RSJ first thing this morning. I think ill be the only soldier on the plane back to Afghanistan tonight with a smile on my face!
Have to say thanks to Joel and Darren for making everything easy, no salesmen flannel, just down to business.

Congratulations - looks a nice example. Enjoy it and stay safe in Afghan. I hear we have this new Apache pilot, and I'm not sure I trust the fella... Ginger for starters.

Cheers for above.
Funny thing is when you see the pictures of the ginger pilot looking over his helicopter in Afghanistan, you can see in the background the roof of my office out there!

PSE must have been a big factor me thinks.

Congrats.

I did actually initially want a manual, but the other half see's the gearstick in her 4x4 as something that sticks out of the floor. So it pains me to see her go round roundabouts in 4th! Next year ill be spending a lot of time out of the country and it needs driving when im away. To stop sleepless nights i decided to make life easy for her (and me!) and get a tip. She likes Tips so at least i know she will be driving it.
I went for this one as it does indeed have PSE and the fact it has a new Porsche supplied engine, still under warranty so bit of a no-brainer really.
As for staying safe, im now in-charge of lads that do the dangerous stuff. After 25 yrs in the Army ive had my fill of putting myself in danger, its up to me to make sure they come back safe.
They wont be looking forward to me coming back on Weds as they know ill be showing pictures of the bloody thing to them and boring them to death about it, as i have been doing for past 4 months!

Damn good on you. Well deserved. I remember when your search was in the early days. Nice to see you reach the prize! Pics when you eventually get it home please!!

Although already mentioned earlier by me about Joel and Darren, i have to say RSJ's setup is pretty impressive.
Having read about them on here i think 95% of us on here know their cars are prepared up to the gold standard.
But you dont get the full effect unless actually seeing it. Myself and missus arrived with cars downstairs in the workshop on lifts etc being worked on, all models.
Going upstairs (and there is a lot), you come across the showroom itself which is funny as you know you are 3 floors up. The area is spotlessly clean and a 911 was being prepped and cleaned with another getting its paint depth (?) checked with some machine. As we had already swapped a few emails, there was no hard sell and was left alone to look all over the car, which to be fair i made my mind up as i walked over to it!
I was part-ex'ing my Audi 3.2 A3, and figures agreed, deal was signed.
And before anyone asked, did i have a test drive? No. Driven a C4S before, driven a Tip before and as i have said to Joel, his reputation precedes him and besides, i have access to machine guns to i doubt im going to get stiffed!
Its got the original phone still fitted which i dont want so they will remove it no problems and you can see the high standard of prep work that it had gone through.
This isnt me blowing smoke up RSJ's ***e but praise where its due, it for me was a big decision and i will own all of this car with no finance so if the buying experience is as good as i had today complete with a celebratory Macdonalds in Slough, then give RSJ a shout.
Word of warning, you may get stopped by the Merc SLS thats sitting outside which is asking for a test drive!

And can Sky stop showing so called video of the attack. That clip was taken ages ago and certainly not of the attack on Fri night!

Message sent! (In spirit anyway.) Congratulations on your car, something else that comes second is an epic road trip, so better start planning! ;-)
