Hello,

Just want to ask if any of you can recommend an European Breakdown cover. AA quoted me £157 for a single trip cover. Is it notmal price? I recall that I have read that some of you have much better deals. but i just can't find the thread. Many thanks!!

Hi Wil,

I am always shouting a big yes about the German ADAC.
They are so very good and at €83,50 the first year for full European cover and then followed by €79,- per year there after, they are ace.

They shipped my first Tuscan back to the UK 3 or so weeks after I joined them !!!
They shipped it again about 18 months later.
Last year my Mk2 Tuscan broke down in southern France. The shipped it back and organised rental cars so that we could continue or holiday schedule without change.
The French recovery guy was more than happy that he was going to be paid by the ADAC.
10/10 from me.

I've got Green Flag cover which gives me European recovery and UK recover for me and the Missus in any car we happen to be in. They were very good when my clutch failed in Granada ( Where is the nearest TVR Dealer sir? Ah --Horsham - we'll just get the car repatriated and get you a hire car....)

Only works on cars up to 10 years old

Cheers Guys for the response.

I have read about the ADAC previously. Sounds pretty good.

Tony just try to send you a message but it got bounced back.

I checked out the ADAC as you mentioned. sounds pretty good as i do drive to Europe every so often with my other car. so it would be handy.

Question to you is how did you apply the membership. I have read the web site, they said there is a number to call if you are not based in Germany and my mobile service provider told me it will charge £3 per minutes. Sounds pretty stiff, by the time I read my 16 digits credit card number it would probably cost just as much as the membership fee. Just wonder how did you do it that is all. Many thanks!

I'm also with Green Flag courtesy of the bank account - full European cover too.
In fact used them twice this year to get car up to Str8Six from Southampton. Latest yesterday, with a fubar'd clutch.

However, when the Tuscan reaches 10 years old, then I'll reconsider. Have been with RAC, but prices seemed to be almost 'negotiable'/dutch auction. ADAC do seem to get a lot of praise on PH.
