Hi, i'm thinking about buying either an R33 or R34 GTR and wondered if someone could tell me what the differences are between a V-spec Skyline GTR, and a regualar one? Are they worth the premium over a normal GTR?

Thanks.

What premium?

Anything with a NUR badge on the back will carry a premium but not so much a normal vspec.

Good choice of model. V-Spec you get a far more sophisticated Attessa E-TS Pro all wheel drive system which has g-sensors to split torque to the front and sides electronically. This gives higher cornering speeds with more stability. Normal GTR has Attessa system that has a mechanical lsd with torque split front to back only. The driving experience is totally different with a normal GTR being quite tail happy even for a 4wd car. Personally I prefer the reassurance the V-Spec gives, the back has never stepped out for me, but you need to drive both for yourself as people prefer different styles. My R33 V-Spec is completely standard except for its NE-1 exhaust and it was dyno'd short while ago at 346hp which is bang on standard output for the engine. Don't take no notice of the "oficial" 280hp figures quoted around, Nissan lied wink. Saying that there's not that many standard cars left I would think, most run 400+hp.

As above,

I have had both V-Spec and normal GTR's and as Andy said the normal one is much more tail happy. The V-Spec does generate a little premuim (more in the r33 than the R34) but nothing much.
As i have had both i would say that the V-Spec is better for getting your boot down and having full control whereas the normal will wag it's tail and make things a little more ..... errrr...... fun?

This is what happened to my "normal GTR" with it's tail happy tendancies

It did look better before...

I speak for myself when I say this but...
When you've been in a serious accident and you see pictures of other people's 'experiences' you know exactly how the driver felt and you know the 'noise' of what the impact made.

Glad you're well and able to tell the tale Rob.

Cheers nikko, it wasn't a very nice experience tbh but I walked away with a couple of broken ribs and a few scratches but luckily that was it.

I spent the next 8 months looking for another one and 7 years later I still have the one above smile

If you fall off, get back on and try again hehe

I have had a few people interested in mine over the last few months even though I am not really selling, however since I have thought about it I could be temped to let it go for the right offer.

Within the last 2 years I have spent in excess of 20k on the engine & gearbox to turn it into a very fast road / race car and it is great (but scary) smile

Lovely GTR Rob, I've seen your in East Yorkshire too, I'm from hessle and have never seen it about. You might of seen my dads though, it's the bright red r33 GTR? It doesn't come out much to be honest.

Best way to identify wether it is a v-spec or not if you've decided to go and see some is wether the rear diff has cooling fins on the back, if it does, it's a b-spec smile

I've only ever seen a red R33 GTR around these parts once and that was prob 5 years back, so possibly.....

To be honest I don't use it anywhere near as much as I should and if I do I don't end up Hessle way that often unless I need petrol or Sainsburys as I'm from the other side of Hull (20 miles past).

A mate of mine lives in Brough who has a red supra TT that you will probably know? (Paul).
