Pilot bearing help!
Discussion
Gents,
I'm a bit of a Noob at this so I need your advice.. Got a 400 HC and a Tremec to pair up with that (It's not a Chim but a restomod Austin-Healey - hope it's ok
When I was about to mate the engine and gearbox I just wanted to check the pilot bearing at the end of the crankshaft. That little bugger didn't spin as I would have thought... should it? I've heard that there are both kinds (maybe not on an RV8 though - but in general). Either it's just a "slip" bearing with no balls or rollers. Or it could be like a needle bearing as well. What do I have? Is it supposed to spin? Maybe it's a stupid question but I honestly don't know.
Any advice on this is greatly appreciated cos i want to get the driveline in.
Thanks/ Jonas
