Just got my Xtrail home and looking through previous MOT's online I see this advisory from this years MOT.

What would this cost to put right, should I have been made aware of it before purchasing? (no MOT certificates have been provided) Is this the metal strut which holds the engine in?

If its an advisory it won't need anything major yet. I'd advise a customer to get it on a ramp and wirebrush the loose rust off and blast it all over with waxoyl. Most cars have hardly paint on subframes etc so once they start to rust it spreads like crazy. Hopefully then it will stay as is and be no worse next year.

Some MOT testers are complete idiots I once got 2 pages of advisories about corrosion and the car was absolutely fine.

All UK cars will have surface corrosion on subframes etc after a few winters it's nothing to worry about 99.99% of the time.

Quite common on Nissans, I've known Micras and Almeras with subframes resembling cheese graters!
