As the thread title says, I looking for Ideas for a week off next week with the mrs.

We will be traveling from Sat-Thurs next week and could do with a few reccomendations on hotels and places to go.

Obviously with it being London and surrounding areas there is going to be lots of touristy places which tbh I am not to fussed about seeing, so locations outside of the city would be good. A few ideas i do have at the moment are..

Thorpe park (loads cheap tickets on ebay atm thanks to the Sun newspaper)
Ace cafe for a quick stop off
possibly heading down to brighton as well.

So I was wondering if anyone had any cool alternative places to go, also if there are any hotels that could be reccomended. Nothing has been booked yet so ideas would be very welcome smile

I'm a South Coast resident so can help you out with places in Kent/Sussex.

What kind of thing are you into?

There are lots of worthwhile castles and historic buildings to visit if that floats your boat.
Chartwell (Sir Winston Churchill) and Knowle Park, both near Sevenoaks, are lovely.

Whitstable is lovely, Canterbury is worth a visit but may be too far out of the way.

You've also got places like Rye, Lewes and Tenterden which are lovely and well a visit if you are in the area but again maybe too far out of your way and are only medium sized market towns.

You could always get up early one day and head to France for the day through the Chunnel! If you do you should take the time to visit Dover Castle - a brilliant place to visit.

Brighton is OK, not a big fan myself but some nice shops in the Lanes if you like a stroll around.

Farnborough Air Museum if you're into aircraft?

Sounds good, thanks for the reccomendations.

I would be more inclined to head out for some activitys and sporty things (seeing as we are both on a bit of a health kick atm)

Had a quick google for waterparks and simlar places but cant see anything.

also, seeing as we are traveling by car, is it reccomended to get a hotel nr a station or to drive everywhere and pay for parking.

Parking around here is pretty rediculous in places, so I imagine it could be quite silly down there.
