Why the heavy police presence today?

Driving from Poole to Oop North today, there were cops everywhere from Ferndown to the M27. Sitting on roundabouts, on flyovers, in lay-bys. I started to get paranoid!

Any idea what was going on. Escaped prisoner? Clamp down on speeding? Nice day to get out of the office?

Strange - I didnt see any and I did Bournemouth to Milton Keynes and back

There was an armed robbery at Forum Jewelers in Broadstone, Poole just before the time you mentioned.

At 11:30am, police car parked near the end of the short northbound Richmond Hill slip on the spur road. I did think it was a strange place to park. Never seen police stopped there before. Far from an ideal location to stick a police car.

I had my tea at Weatherspoons in Broadstone tonight, thought as much.

I went round the Ashley heath flyover heaing towards Ringwood from Bournemouth spur road.

There was an X5 parked on the flyover with an armed policeman walking around it to get in.

Further up, on the entry slip from Verwood - Ringwood, there was a 5 series estate parked up at the very end with red lights flashing and "Speed check" flashing on their rear display.

Rumours of another robbery after the Forum robbery yesterday. Running a jewellery shop in Bournemouth myself so quite glad the BiB are about.
