A pnc check is completed by the control room, who tell you the relevant information over the air.
vehicle check,

1. Type of car
2. Colour
3. Date of first reg
4. whether there are any reports
5. who owns it / when they registered it
6. any plate changes or anything else worth noting

Person check
1. name, whether wanted, missing or disqualified
2. warning signals / markers
3. last known address / as of when
4. description, any peculiarites.
If there are any warrants outstanding, these are checked by ourselves, or the control room if they can.

The description / tatoos bit is a good one, as believe it or not people do lie about who they are...

Just curious. Honest !
I haven't been pulled in years ( apart from one SP50 ).

I recently got back off holiday though and I noticed a patrol car at a roundabout. I went past then drove sensibly under the limit because I just had that feeling that they would be following me. I kept looking in my mirror and sure enough there they were - quite a way back and following very slowly.

I then accidentally took a wrong turn and had to turn round in a pub car park. I looked a right state as Id been up since 6 and hadn't shaved for a few days. You would definitely have looked at me and thought - dodgy looking thug.
As I got to the edge of the carpark they came down the road. They looked at me. They didn't pull me though.
I just wondered what sort of checks they had done to decide not to pull me ?
Especially as it seemed I did a cutback loop to shake them off my tail - haha

I was nearly home at this point so very near the cars registered address.

Good stuff wik
Gary, yes I did notice your comments about joining RPU, nice one, did you get in.

Robo, yes, Avsom pol for me. I was wondering whether you knew a very good friend of mine, Rob K.
He works in firearms on your patch, nice bloke who I have known for years from when he was a bootneck.
Tall thin mad jock with bandylegs, runs like a hare and likes shooting things. (sums him up pretty well)

filss me with such confidence that they've then given said individual an MP5!!!

on PNC...assume description and stuff only comes up if the driver is 'known' to the cops. ie...I assume nothing would be returned for me, for example?

Street - congrats on doing well at the interview...what's it actually for?? (am stuopid about some of the abbreviations used!)

How do you get a description and tattoos, etc, then?

I don't see any space for that on the V5 application, the driver licence application... anywhere, in fact.

Just curious...

description is from a PNC person check and your details will only be on there if you have been in trouble with the police.

Once charged, as your fingerprints are being taken, note is made of tattooes, scars, eye colour etc for future reference.

Quite correct guys.

You have to have been a bad boy, and been a guest at one of our custody centres to get all your personal details on the magic box!

Yes, the driver details appear as they would on the v5.
The drivers details, ie description only appear if a personcheck is completed, and they have a record.

The description is put on pnc via a large yellow form which is filled out by a police officer after the individuals arrest, and charge (for any arrest) after fingerprints / photo have been taken.
This is sent to a central records bureau, who enter the details on pnc.

The form contains questions about any tatoos, marks or scars, general description, habits, peculiarities, description of offence etc etc.
This is then forwarded to pnc, where an officer can check the persons previous, descriptions etc.
Very handy if the person you have stopped says he is mr bloggs of 22 acacia avenue, 5feet 6 tall with no tattoos, where his pnc states he is 6 feet 1, with a tattoo of a cauliflower on his arm, living in a different area.

Don't worry Nightmare, I have seen him shoot and he is ok. He will probably talk people to death before he gets round to shooting them
