Hanging things from the towing eye

Can someone please explain to me the point\idea behind hanging things from the rear towing eye, I have seen various small toys and yesterday saw what was obviously a keyring, why oh why?

Any empty dog collar and lead work well.

Usually seen on some underpowered, FWD box o' cac.

yeah hate this trend, from what i heard it was from subway trains in tokyo with metal buckets hanging underneath that used to catch drips or something and then the drift boys put tiny metal buckets on to show how low their car was. als heard that the toy would swing out when drifting to show how much of angle they could get their car.
